How Healthy is Dominos Pizza in Australia?
Dominos Australia is the biggest pizza chain in Australia. Worldwide they have over 2,800 stores and work across 10 different markets. Imagine pizzas of every kind (if you can think of it and stick it on top of pizza, you can pretty much guarantee they have it!).
And while no, it’s not a salad, over the past five years Domino’s have worked on reducing sodium, fats and sugars in their ingredients, to create a menu that they hope is tastier, better and healthier for consumers.
You might also be interested to know that some elements of pizza (tomatoes, herbs, veggie toppings) are super healthy and may even lower risk of heart disease and cancer.
Admittedly, the researchers were talking more about thin crispy Italian versions with dashes of olive oil on top rather than toppings containing the entire quantity of the meat counter covered in cheese, but hey, pick wisely and pizza has health benefits.
But How Do Dominos’ Calories Stack up?
Okay, we have to preface this by saying, willpower may have to come into things a little bit. Even the lowest calorie pizza on the Dominos Australia menu has 736 calories (3091kj) if you eat the whole thing – which tips it slightly over the 600 calorie (2520kj) limit that the NHS say should make up a healthy meal and that we usually use as a cut off in these calorie guides.
But, hey – keep two slices for lunch tomorrow and stack a big green salad on the side and you get six slices of pizza for a healthy number of calories – and extra pizza for lunch (or breakfast – cold pizza is the breakfast of champions after all) the next day. It’s win win for everyone!
The Lowest Calorie Pizza at Dominos Australia
The lowest calorie pizza at Dominos Australia is the Value Range Chicken Supreme, Thin and Crispy Pizza.
Per serving (which is a slice) it comes in at a very reasonable 92 calories (386kj).
There are 8 servings per pizza so, as we just suggested, you can eat six and stack on a salad – or, if you were to have four slices it would be 368 calories (1545kj).
If you fancied it then you’d still have room for a Salted Caramel Sundae at 242 calories (1016kj) taking you just 10 calories over our 600 calorie cut off! Pizza AND dessert – today is a good day!
Crust Counts
If you know anything about calories this is not going to be a shock for you. Basically, the thicker the crust the more calories it contains – but you might be wondering how much difference exactly it makes.
Well, the great thing about the Domino’s Nutritional Info is that it lets you see exactly how much difference – and it’s this. Let’s take a standard, value, Simply Cheese pizza and check out the calories per slice
Thin and Crispy pizza – calories per slice – 111 calories (466kj)
Classic Crust and Gluten Free – calories per slice – 126 calories (529kj)
Mini – calories per slice -161 calories (676kj)
Deep Pan – calories per slice – 169 calories (709kj)
Extra Large- calories per slice – 191 calories (802kj)
So, at 80 calories per slice difference, and eight slices per pizza, you’re looking at 640 calories (2688kj) extra per pizza if you pick Extra Large crust over thin and crispy – that’s like another meal.

Lowest Calorie ‘Value Range’ Pizza at Dominos Australia
You’ve already met this, as the lowest calorie Value Range Pizza is also the lowest Calorie pizza on the whole menu, the Chicken Supreme, Thin and Crispy at 92 calories (386kj) per serving.
Resists the urge to make supreme joke here, but lowest in calories and lowest in price sounds like a win win.
Lowest Calorie ‘Traditional Range Pizza’ at Dominos Australia
Again, in the Traditional Range it’s the Thin and Crispy, Chicken Supreme that comes out as the lowest calorie per serving at 92 calories (386kj). (I see a theme)
If you fancy something less meaty but also very low calorie then the Vegorama, Thin and Crispy is 103 calories (432kj) per serving, 412 calories (1730kj) per half pizza.
Lowest Calorie ‘Premium Range’ Pizza
If you like fish on your Pizza then you’re in luck with the Premium Range at Dominos Australia. The lowest calorie option is the Garlic Prawn Thin and Crispy Pizza at 111 calories (466kj) per serving. That’s 444 calories (1865kj) per half pizza.
Or, if you’re not upset by asymmetry you can stack up five and still be under out 600 calorie cut off!
Lowest Calorie ‘Vegetarian Plant-Based’ Pizza
The Vegetarian Plant-Based beef and onion, thin and crispy pizza is 115 per serving (460 per 4 slices), or you could even go for the classic crust at 132 calories (554kj) per serving (396 calories or 1663kj) per 3 slices).
Dominos Calories – Lowest ‘Vegan Range’ Pizza
I love that there is a dedicated vegan section on the Domino’s Australia menu. The lowest calorie option is the Vegan Spicy Veg Trio Thin N Crispy at 105 calories (441kj) per serving. That’s 420 calories (1764kj) per half pizza (4 slices).
The Lowest Calorie ‘Melbourne Range’ Pizza at Dominos Australia
I have no idea why Melbourne have their own special pizza menu, but, they do and so, for any Melbourne readers, here’s your own individual paragraph!
Your special, Melbourne-only, low-calorie choice is…
The Butter Chicken Thin N Crispy Pizza is the lowest calorie choice for the Melbourne Range. At 98 calories (411kj) per serving, and 392 calories (1646kj) per half pizza there are plenty of calories left to have an extra slice or add on a dessert.
Lowest Calorie Sides at Dominos Australia
I wouldn’t consider any of the sides super low-calorie, especially if they’re being paired with a Pizza. In fact in most cases if you coupled them with pizza it would take you over our 600 calorie cut off.
But, if you’re going to split them, or, you’re happy to compromise with fewer slices to stack on a side, there’s some options and the lowest calorie one starts with chicken!
The 5 pack of Buttermilk Chicken Pieces with no sauce is 261 calories (1096kj) per serving. If you had this with three servings of the Thin N Crispy Chicken Supreme that would make a total of 537 calories (2255kj), comfortably under the 600 calorie cut off.
Lowest Calorie Drinks and Shakes at Dominos Australia
Again, I don’t imagine you’d be surprised, these drinks and shakes aren’t particularly low in calorie. But you can get a Chocolate Malt Thickshake for 520 calories (2184kj). That is A LOT of calories for a drink though!
Lowest Calorie Desserts
As far as desserts are concerned the Sundaes are by far your best choice calorie wise. Paired with a low calorie pizza you can actually factor in one of the Mini Chocolate Sundaes (243 calories or 1020kj) or Salted Caramel Sundaes (242 calories – 1016kj) to your meal without going over 600 calories. Perfect if you fancy a little sweet treat.
